Jerriese Johnson Gospel Choir (JJGC) of Middle Collegiate Church
Lisa joined the JJGC in 2017. Founded in 1986 by the late Jerriese Johnson, an East Village actor and singer, the choir acts as a vessel for joy and love under the guidance of music director John Del Cueto. In addition to Sunday service, the choir sings at rallies and protests for LGBTQ, racial, gender, and economic equality, providing another avenue for the social justice work of Middle under the leadership of Reverend Jacqueline J. Lewis, Ph.D.
The Brooklyn Outlaw Chorus is a community of singers who have fun making great music together. We rehearse weekly in Brooklyn and do occasional performances. Our repertoire includes classical, folk, and pop music from a range of musical traditions and centuries. The Brooklyn Outlaw Chorus is committed to being inclusive in its practices and welcoming to and respectful of all identities. We see singing together as a way to build community and create a place where we can explore different musical traditions and get to know people who we might not otherwise know.
